Meet Our Founder
Toun (Adijat) Balogun
Toun (Adijat) Balogun is the Founder and Executive Director of Chosen and Beloved. A passionate advocate for faith, family, and community, she has dedicated her life to empowering and supporting others through service and leadership.
Toun has been married to her husband, Kunle Balogun, for over 37 years. Together, they have built a strong family foundation, raising four children while also nurturing and supporting many others within their wider community. She is a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, a role she cherishes deeply.
Toun is deeply passionate about helping women and girls overcome the lasting effects of trauma from abuse so they can live fulfilled and purposeful lives.
While raising her family and navigating significant financial challenges, Toun pursued higher education with determination and resilience. She earned a BA in Theology from the London School of Theology and later completed a Master’s degree in Management Studies at the University of Hertfordshire. She also served within a prominent UK Government department before retiring in 2012.
Following her graduation, Toun worked for a large Christian organisation in North London, where she served as Head of Social Action. Her passion for supporting women and girls affected by trauma from abuse led her to train in counselling skills in 2021, and more recently in the “Own My Life” programme.
Toun has been actively involved in a variety of volunteering and leadership roles within both Christian and community organisations. Her heart remains firmly committed to seeing people find freedom, healing, and restoration from the effects of abuse and trauma.
In April 2024, Toun and her husband, Kunle, founded Broxbourne Community Church, where they currently serve together in leadership.
Outside of her work and ministry, Toun enjoys reading, travelling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
